I am an assistant professor in the Department of Communication and Cognition at Tilburg University. My research focuses on the role of online technologies in health communication. More specifically, I am interested in how online technologies are personalized to the individual health consumer (e.g., based on the patient’s behavior, preferences or needs), and how this affects health outcomes.
In 2011, I completed the Research Master in Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. In 2015, I defended my dissertation about how to use illustrations and videos in online cancer communication with older patients. Between 2015 and 2019, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher continuing this line of research focusing on how and when online technologies are effective by examining novel ways of personalizing information to improve and optimize health outcomes for a wide variety of individuals.
